North Church Weekly Wrap Up - April 5th - April 11th
Friends,
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, but today is Holy Saturday, the day between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. Traditionally Holy Saturday was a day of reflective lament.
Try placing yourselves in the shoes of Jesus’ first disciples on this day. Those men and women had expected Jesus to usher in the Kingdom of God in power and might, but instead, Jesus now lay dead in a rich man’s tomb. Imagine the grief, lament, and confusion they must have felt.
Too often we are uncomfortable with those feelings and move quickly to, “but Sunday’s coming” and it is, but right now, it’s ok to feel a sense of lament for death, for the state of our world, and for the sin and brokenness that made the death of God’s own Son necessary. Spend time in contemplative prayer, read the psalms, and lament before God the things that are not yet made new again. Grieve and lament in hope of the coming Resurrection.
Easter services are at 9 am or 11 am on Sunday! Please join us for them virtually by checking out northchurch.online.church*. If you have issues with the platform, head straight to northchurchabq.com/sermons or to our YouTube Channel and the full service will be there.

No matter how you are feeling as you read this message, I want you to know that Jesus did not die for you in some abstract, uninterested, or disconnected way. No, when Jesus went to the cross he took a list of names. And if you have faith in him your name was on that list. Let that truth lead you to rest, comfort, and confidence in Him.
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. - Matthew 10:29–31
I pray for you daily.
In Christ,
Pastor Ryan
