In Romans 15:30–33, Paul urgently invites the church in Rome to “strive together” with him through prayer as he faces danger, ministry challenges, and uncertainty. The sermon emphasizes that the power of prayer is not found in prayer itself but in God, the true source of power, and that praying together allows believers to depend upon Him and support one another through trials. Paul’s requests provide three areas for corporate prayer: deliverance from evil, asking God to protect His people, bring justice, and even lead those who oppose Christ to faith; service to the saints, entrusting our limited time, abilities, and efforts to God and trusting Him to multiply our humble offerings for His purposes; and refreshing in the church, recognizing that the prayers of fellow believers can bring mercy, encouragement, and spiritual refreshment to weary souls. Ultimately, the sermon calls the church to bring its struggles, service, and suffering to God together in prayer, trusting the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to work His will and power among His people, and closes with Paul’s blessing: “May the God of peace be with you all.”
